The participating members were chosen by the 3rd General Election.[2] "Everyday, Kachusha", AKB48's 21st single, came with a 3rd senbatsu election ticket allowing to register a vote for a girl of voter's choice. The girls who claimed the top 21 positions would perform the A-side,[1] and the top 12 would be so-called "media senbatsu" (メディア選抜 , "media selection"), or front members, who would promote the single in the media. The girls ranked 22 to 40 would form the "Under Girls", and will perform the B-side.
The title song, "Flying Get", is the theme song for the Fuji TV drama series Hanazakari no Kimitachi e 'Ikemen Paradise' 2011, starring AKB48's Atsuko Maeda.[2] It is also used for a TV commercial of Peach John's lingerie brand "Heart Bra", starring Yuko Oshima, Haruna Kojima & Tomomi Kasai.[3] The music video for "Flying Get", directed by Yukihiko Tsutsumi, lasts over 18 minutes and features a plot similar those of action films.
"Flying Get" sold 1,025,952 copies on the first day of its release, becoming the first single in Oricon history to sell over 1 million copies on its first day of release.[4][5]
Flying Get has managed to outsell Everyday, Katyusha on the last week of sales in 2011 making it the #1 selling single of 2011.[6] In the 53rd Annual Japan Record Awards on December 30th, 2011, "Flying Get" is one of the ten songs that competed in the awards and won.
